Ok, so i walk into McDonalds and what do i do? freshly 16 and trying to get a job???? |
I just turned 16 a few weeks ago and i have nothing to do for a bout a month until school starts August 20th. so my dad's all "get a job". so i am. mcdonalds and hardy's (both fast food places) are right down the street from my house so i would be riding my bike (since i can't drive). how do i ask for a job, i've never done this before. do i just walk up to the cashier lady and when she asks "what can i get you?", i say "do you guys know if you're hiring right now/" or what? thanks for any advice, i have to leave the library and ride over there in an hour, so please i need help. thanks!!!! Act like you know what you are doing, but without being a snob or a know it all. Politely, but firmly, walk up to the counter and ask if you could please fill out an application. Sit there, fill it out completely, and without errors, and then ask if you could speak to the manager. Give your application, and again, politely, but assuredly, ask when they might have time to give you an interview, because you are very interested in working for them. Because you start school in a month, unless you are willing to work part time on the weekends, you are not likely to be hired for just 30 days. It's alot of work to train someone in, and it wouldn't be worth their time, especially compared to a person who would be interested. Don't be discouraged if you don't want to work during school; just put in an application before next summer and try again. Key points to use: "I want to learn new things." "I'd like to take on more responcibility" yes you go in and ask if they are hiring if they say yes, ask for an application! also, i always try to give the application to a manager, so try going between 2 and 4 pm<those are slow times> so they may be able to talk to you! best of luck! just ask for an application and give it to the manager on duty Go up to the cashier and ask if they are hiring and if so can you get and application. Bring a pen with you and fill it out there. Then give it back to them(unless they tell you otherwise but they probably wont). That is great that you want to get a job! simply ask for a application form... phone them or check online if that branch got any vacancies Just go in and tell them you'd like to speak with the manager. When the manager comes out, tell him/her that you'd like to apply for a part time job. They will probably give you an application...sit down there and fill it out and when you hand it back to the manager, ask if you can go ahead and interview. That's all you have to do! And if he tells you he'll call you, give them a day or two and then YOU call them back. Don't sit around and wait for them to call. Just walk on up to the counter and ask "Are you hiring?" or you can ask to speak with the manager and ask him/her if they are hiring, but at fast food places, a lot of times the cashier can give you the application to fill out. Make sure when you go that you look nice and take 2 black pens to fill out the application (one is an extra in case the first one dies out). Or, you can pick up the application, take it home, and fill it out there. Good Luck |
