Motorcycles--> Yamaha R1 or R6? |
I'm going to buy a Bike. One of the two mentioned above. Which one is better on the street? I.E. Cornering, speed, fun, handling, ect. Does any magazine have a look at both bikes? Neither one is "better" than the other. You are looking at two street legal racing bikes. The R-6 weighs about 355 pounds, the R-1 around 380, dry. The 600 makes about 120 h.p. the R-1 around 164 H.P. The smaller bike will run between 140-160 MPH, depending on the load., the Liter bike 180 mph or more. Now you can do a Power Commander, Dyno tune, pipe and air filter to either and pickup an extra 12-20 H.P. What should determine which bike you buy is 1. Your riding experience, 2. Your check book, and 3. THE INSURANCE. Obviously the 1000 is going to cost more to insure. Much more. Also your physical size will dictate which rocket you want to ride. Taller guys, 6" and up will find the R-1 a more comfortable fit. Both bikes handel far beter than 90% of the riders can push them. Both are a blast to ride. Will you be 2 up or solo? For more 2 up riding the 1000 is better. Good luck. the R6 is better but you don't have to listen to me. its a better street bike. Do you want too lead or do you want too follow? If you want too lead the R1 all the way. Both are very nice bikes tho, cant go wrong with either one If you don't know the difference, you don't need one of these. They are for pros.... Not trying to be smart with you, but I've seen a lot of them in the junk yard with less than 50 miles on them....... They are both great bikes. The R6 will handle a little better because it's lighter, but the R1 will out accelerate it coming out of a curve or in a straightaway. I'd go with the R6 as a daily ride. |
