Is it legal to park a motorcycle in...? |
In the MSF course the instructor said that it was ticketable to share a parking stall with a car. Like if you parked on the far left edge of the stall, and another car managed to squeeze into the remaining space. But... is parking between stalls in a parallel parking row legal? What if you park between two metered parallel street parking stalls? Also, is parking on the sidewalk legal? Can I chain the bike to a parking meter or is that asking for a ticket? This is in hawaii btw. I'm not up on Hawaiian cycle laws, but I do believe parking on the sidewalk is illegal, unless designated for motorcycle parking. As far as your parking spot questions....I know I wouldn't want to sqeeze my bike into a spot where it could potentially get scratched or tipped over. I don't recommend chaining your cycle to anything, either. I'd be pretty pissed off if someone sqeezed their car in MY spot. I always park in a stall on an angle, backing it in, makes for an easier exit, and in the center of the spot. Making sure no one is going to sqeeze in. I ride a certified police issue Harley Davidson, btw. Hope this helps. Source(s): Lady Biker i believe mopeds u could get away with it but i wouldnt try the bike i got warned for that so good luck Check with your DMV. The way it usually goes, your cycle is a vehicle. It is entitled to be treated like a vehicle. You park like a vehicle, in a legal spot. Anyplace else, you get a ticket. Just because it fits in between doesn't make it legal. I can fit my pickup in a LOT of places, don't make it legal. If you park between meters, which one are you going to pay? (The answer is: the ticket!) It is illegal, and stupid too. I do not think what you describe above IS legal. I think motorcycles schould share the same rules and regulations as cars - at least this is what I do when riding every day, respect the cars to get the same back from them... It must be nice to ride in Hawaii !!! :) parking on the sidewalk is illegal for a bike, and 'sharing' a spot with a cage is unadviseable. always park the bike in the center of the space so a car can just roll over ur bike. ur bike in the eyes of the law the same as a car...only diff is, u have 2 wheels. |
