Nasty Neighbors? |
I live in an upper middle class town. While most of the rest of town is huge 5,000 square foot homes, I live on a modest street. However, the average home price on my street is $400K-$500K for a 1200-1500 square foot home. Some people are middle class individuals w/ high schools or college aged, few are empty nesters and a majority are young working families w/ children. Therefore, you can guess that everyone's home are very neat. The lawns are nicely maintained, flowers planted, the upkeeps of the homes themselves is nice. However, about 1.5 year ago, I got new neighbors. With each passing month, their yard becomes dirtier and dirtier My driveway parrallels the side of their garage. On this side they have old night stands, broken kitchen chairs, an old TV, a few garbage cans filled, empty boxes, a broken bike. I can also see into the back of their yard, They house came w/ a swimming pool. For all intents and purposes, the cost of the home doesn't matter as much as the fact of how they are keeping the exterior. So I don't understand your point in discussing finances. Keep in mind, people of wealth are slobs as much as people with very little money and vice versa. Look at Britney Spears for a good example of this. With that being said, contact your local division of Code Enforcement and report them. They will receive a citation and will have to clean up the mess. Most citations give them 7-14 days, so keep calling the Code Enforcement office if it isn't resolved. I have neighbors like that, too. PS: Most newer neighborhoods have a Neighborhood Association. See if yours does and you can also complain to them. its all in their yard right? so whats the problem plant some bushes maybe opinion whats the question? to each his own. if they want to live like that, thats thier choice. its not YOUR yard or home thats trashy, so let it go. Check with your local code compliance office. There may be ordinances to prevent this type of junky yard. I live in a deed restricted neighborhood where this sort of thing is not tolerated. If this doesn't pan out, speak to them directly. If they are unwilling to clean up their act you may be better off to sell before the whole neighborhood is devalued. confront them or send them an anonymous letter. tell them that they are SLOBS and cleanliness is a way to better living and happiness. also if you manage to get this on the news, they won't have any alternative but to clean. some city's have rules you have to follow as in how you have to keep up your yard and your you use if it were me i would call you city to see what if anything can be done because a yard like that can bring your value of your home down good luck |
