Does someone know a good workout?

My husband and I started going to the gym down our street a week ago. I look forward to going, if I'm not working that day, and I feel better afterward. But I don't have a workout plan. I've been doing the bike a little bit, the treadmill, and the step master thing, but other than that I do the easy weights 5 sets of 10, and same with my sit ups. I feel it, but I want something steady, so I know it will show. I am 5'1" and (I hate saying) 178 lbs. My arms are good, but I don't mind making them strong again (although I have a 2 1/2 year old, so the arms get a workout in themselves), my main problem areas are my stomach and need I say ladies, the infamous thighs! I have an hourglass shape to my middle, so I'm not just a blob, but I want those to areas to shrink drastically. And I kind of don't have a butt, so any workout to help that would be good, too.! I still have my yoga booty ballet videos, that I try to do when I can't make the gym.

(This is what I used to do 6xs a week before I went into laisse faire mode and now think that exercise is sweating your life away. )

I used to have a treadmill and a jump rope and dumbells of 10lb and 15 lb size. I would run at 5.5-6.5mph on the treadmill for 20 minutes and then jump rope at a heavy pace for 10 minutes.

I used to run for 20-25 minutes at a fast pace and then switch to jumping rope for 10 minutes straight afterward. Then I'd stretch and it'd be a complete workout. On alternate days I did HIIT, interval training, or fartlek (hehehe), in which on the treadmill I would alternate high intensity bouts of 1.30-2 minutes with slow jogging recovering periods of 1 minute. When I did HIIT my workout session was shorter because when you work at a higher pace you burn as many calories as you do working longer at a moderate pace... so it was all the same. HIIT also builds you up FAST.

I think you should get yourself a jump rope... this is like the best peice of exercise equiptment money can buy and your heart and love handles would want... it's FUN too, really, you never get bored if you have music on. I once went 30 solid minutes straight and never got bored. But then I sufferred painful soreness in my calves the next day =-(
I just wrote an article about which workout can work for people; you can read it at:
