How can we fight the police who break the law to enforce the law? |
i live in seattle wa, i have no resources no extra money and a criminal history. why does this give the police the right to break the law to get a conviction? the bike patrol in downtown seattle lied and said that they seen me standing in an alcove in a drug area, and that when i saw them i started walking and droped somethin which gave them probable cause. when the truth is i had just parked my car legally which they saw me get out of and i started walking when behind me a officer said "oh look what we have here" one of them asked me "where are u going?" i said im going up the street to have a drink. he looked at his watch and said "its 2:30 in the morning put your hands up against the wall" they searched my car and said " u kno if we find anything we are goin to seize the car too" regardless if anything was found they mentioned none of this in the police report which would have made the search illegal. in a court of law who are they goin to believe? no one is above the law?????????? Find a good public lawyer who deals with cases like this for consultation - you can find one in your phone book, and they're also advertised on TV (most of the latter deal with insurance companies, but I'm sure they also deal with other cases, such as criminal injustice or false convinctions, such as described above.) It's always good to remember how you experienced them, and document it as if your are writing your own police report. This will be useful for when you get to court, as judges will look at this kind of documentation. Then, you and your lawyer must contact City Hall or whoever is in charge with police affairs, and file a complaint with whatever department contained the cops who harassed you. If the cops are found guilty, and their actions were not justifiable, they could be suspended or thrown off the force. From a societal point of view, each community must create a legal petition (name, address and phone number) describing the "wild cops" situation that must be controlled. (another solution would be to create an online petition that caters nationwide.) Possible solutions could be a suspension of the offending officer depending on the severity of the incident, or for more serious offences, dismissal from the force entirely. Also, it may cost extra, but put a law enforcement psychologist on the payroll (departments in some cities actually do this), AND have a mandatory seminar in law enforcement ethics, so cops can learn to make arrests and deal with offenders in a forceful, yet friendly manner if the sitaution warrants it. This latter plan should be even included in police conferences held around the country. I know there are cops out there who don't like being told how to do their jobs, but there are some who badly need it. Hey, cops are crooked! Why do you think people like myself who served in Vietnam with distinction and have respect and love for the Nation absolutely fear and hate these Big Business Enforcers? get a lawyer. call your local news station and report it. all the cops do is break the laws, they think they're above it. if they lie about the police report, a lawyer can help you. you can write your own report on how things happened. they lied in my police report, said they pulled me over for my third break light being out, when they pulled me over for no seatbelt. i got off. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GO WITH A COURT APPOINTED LAWYER OR ANY LAWYER IN THE COUNTY. GET A LAWYER FROM ANOTHER COUNTY. the court apponted lawyers are "in bed" with the judge and the prosecutor. I have a phone which also takes videos. In a situation like what you described, I would be recording what they said and do it without their knowing it. Remember, in a public area, you can record without consent. i.e. News media. Then take the suckers to court. until the whole country comes forward with evidence of these unlawful acts we will continue to be hassled and our lives have to be changed in order to avoid this poop. i myself had to move 2000 miles from my home to get away from these jerks who prey on low income families with members who have made a few mistakes in their past. You have to find out your the number to your local Internal Affairs Bureau, they are the police for the police, and once you do that then you call,a nd ask for the agent, but when you do it, you have to have the officer's name, and possible their badge number, and the precinct that they work for, that way when you do go to IAB, then you will get the right officer.NO the law have absolutely;y no right to break the law, this is why the internal affairs bureau was put into place. Man oh man what in the world are doing out there at 2:30 in the morning. That is just asking for trouble. And thats the way the judge will see it too. I know its a free country and you should be able to do what you want a 2:30 AM, but thanks to gangbangers and druggies the police aren't going to take any chances and the courts are going to take their side. It took me a long time to learn that. I was stubborn though and thought eventually I would win and they would leave me alone. But it ain't going to happen. This is a police nation and a nation of laws and 2:30 AM, if you aren't on the job, is when the dishonest and denizens of society are out and about. |
