What is the law regarding evicted belongings? Is it legal/ethical to take evicted belongings?

Someone a few streets over has been evicted. It looks as though they moved most of their stuff, but a few larger furniture items as well as some odds and ends are out by the street. There is a sherrifs note on the window.

I have seen people throw away things like bikes or lawnmowers and other people take them.

What about evicted belongings.
Is it legal.ethical to take them?

After so long, it turns into the landlords property. Some states he can keep there stuff, and charge them a storage fee. So it really depends on your state, county and local governments to set those laws and/or local codes. Sheriffs office would more than likely be able to tell you your local codes on that matter.
Legal maybe, depends on the state your in. Ethical no, not unless the ones that were evicted said that the stuff was anyone who wants it.
