Concerned for my life .? |
I'm a moyorcycle driver. On the street these days, people sometimes act like you are not there . Is this out of rudeness or has our society lowering the price of life at many levels ? I always drive like no one sees me and believe that is why I am alive. I have known several people killed on bikes and it is always someone turned in front of them. If you go to prison and they find out you killed a motorcyclist, you will not be forgiven. It is the same category as child molestors . Riding use to be alot safer. Is there anyone that wants to actually cut me off or pull in front of me out there ? I hear ya... I grew up among riders, and back in '75, my mom & the man who later became my stepdad were both almost killed in one of those "But Officer, I didn't see the motorcycle" incidents... He has had two more accidents that were entirely the other person's fault despite his being a very defensive rider. When I am on the road, I will play "rear guard" by taking a position 1.5 carlengths behind a group of bikes and shifting between lanes to force other vehicles to slow down and look around before they reach the point of being close to the bikes... I can't tell you how many times the riders have offered to by me lunch when I've done this on twisty or otherwise dangerous roads. Thank you all for your answers. Just wanted to make sure I'm not alone out there . E Z does it and ride safely. Continue enjoying what's left. Now is what counts. hard to see bikes when we are on our laptops and blackberry's. Does everyone that rides bikes not know there are risks associated? I agree with you, it's absolutely crazy! People pay no attention to bike riders. They tailgate them and cut infront of them, pull out infront of them, etc. Have you taken a class on how to crash? They have classes that teach you how to lay down your bike in an accident which will help decrease the amount of damage to your body. But you are right, that is the only way-- know that no one else is paying attention to you. Loud pipes save lives. (from what I have heard!) It blows my mind, I stay far back from motorcycles, I mean what if he (or she) somehow falls off, or crashes? If you are too close you will run them over and how can you live with that? It's not like another car that you hit and hope everyones ok. You will run them over. There are risks associated with everything. Here in Canada, it's winter so there aren't a lot of bikes around right now but the last one I saw was in November and it passed me at twice my speed... tough to see a blur unless you get in it's way. Most unsafe riders here are rewarded accordingly... unfortunately. Most likely not, unless they are in fact just an evil person. You ride your bike like I ride mine and most other riders. Be invisible. The reason there are more gettin in accidents is that people don't drive anymore, they are in too big a hurry to be bothered by an insignificant thing like paying attention while driving I mean geez what if lisa texts you, you would be rude not to immediatley text her back... and gee if a customer calls you you have to answer the call as voice mail is so 90's. If you can't tell I have had people change lanes into me, runing me off the road. and pull out in front of me and Me almost hitting them then they have the gall to flip me off.....I just shake my head take down the tag and call the police making a citizens complaint against the driver......It is the same as a ticket but you have to prove it was them, they usually don't show for their court date so it defaults to you...Kinda a fun way to wake people up. Most don't know you can do this in most municipalities.... |
