I recently had a Scooter accident - but luckly im still okay thank God - should i quit biking altogether?? |
i was filtering through traffic (just a bit faster than i should have!) and i got caught out by a driver who abruptly pulled out of the traffic line to do a right into a street - i didn't see his indicator as it was a 'classic' car & indcators were crap/useless nowadays as they are not on the corner of the car even! Anyway i had to emergency brake & swerve to avoid hiting him head on & instead had no choice but to hit him side on as he turned... i've got minor bruises but i've got the dilema of what to do next?? I have done around 100,000 miles on bikes and this type of accident is common, I have been lucky but there came a time when I decided that the risks outweighed the pleasure Live and learn babe! Won't do that again in a hurry will you? PMSL. a scooter/motorcycle rider is always more alert about surroundings than automobile drivers. I'd keep riding knowing that I must be ALERT at all times and know that accidents are going to happen. Unless you have gained a fear for riding, get back on that bike! you know the risks, so don't be such a knob in future. You know that car drivers don't use their mirrors and that you have to anticipate their every stupid move. Anyway, how can you quit biking when you've only got a hairdryer? No way get back on your bike!! I had two accidents within two weeks on my bicycle. The first I hit a car side on and mashed up my front wheel and ego. The second one I flipped over the handle bars landed on my shoulder (which fractured) then bashed my cheek bone against the road. I looked REAL bad, my daughter (10yrs at the time) cried and ran away when she saw me!! lol But I'm back on my bike with my youngest (17Months) in his chair on the back and loving every minute of it. God bless and protect you as you ride...x get back on your bike as soon as poss dont let some idioit car driver put you off biking as a rule straight line it. dont bomb it if there are side streets or blind bends and in traffic keep your wits about you be ready for cars to be erratic! (cos they allways are) please dont give in Drive on like mad |
