I am 38 weeks pregmy doctor told me to walk 3-4 miles a day. Would riding a stationary bike have same effect? No probably not. The reason the Dr told you to walk is because the baby's head will put pressure on your cervix to help dilate you. If you sit it isn't the desired effect. You could try a treadmill. 3-4 miles seems excessive and if you cant do it then dont just walk as much as you can. Good Luck! Careful, if the baby is very far down it will not stand for such force. Intercourse can bring on labor safely. if its for movement then yes i would say so I think that walking is better for you. Because a stationary bike, could be very uncomfortable, and the idea is to get your blodd going, and to get your cervix to dilate, and stretching and moving does that!! Best of Luck to you!! p.s. I know that is sucks to walk 38 weeks pregnant but if you do it might help you dilate and it also makes it easier when you push you baby out. Also, with walking you are getting fresh air. I think that is important too. I'd just say, whatever the doctor says, should go. Or, if you're still leaning toward biking, call him up! Doesn't hurt. 3-4 miles at 38 wks are you kidding me? you must be in some awesome shape to do that. and it is not going to put you into labor either, that is an old wives tale. women who exercise regularly have easier labors but I could never walk 3-4 miles at 38 wks. I would have had to stop at least 5 times just to pee!! |
