Is there a way to convert my 10 speed into a stationary exercise bike? |
Is there a way to convert my 10 speed into a stationary exercise bike? The easiest way to do this would be to remove your chain. This will let you pedal and not go anywhere. You will have to find a way to make the bike stationary so you can keep your balance while you're on it. I suggest removing the front tire and building a stand to prop the front tire frame in. Make the stand level with the back tire so it will be exactly like riding a bike when you are on it. yes, I have seen such gadgets listed in the market. Check your local bike shop or try Google.com or Ask.com for bike suppliers etc. Yes you can go to a bicycle store and get a bike trainer. Yup. I gave mine away recently, as now I have a stationary bike. It is a stand that lifts up the back tire, and runs it against a wheel. The sporting good store should still carry them, at about $80. That's what I paid, anyway. It worked fine, but having the bike in our living room was taking too much space. So now we have the stationary one, that is not as large. Sure. There's a gadget that raises the forks on the bike so the wheel spins without touching the ground. But it doesn't do what a stationary exercise bike does, which is to enable you to increase the load by increasing the resistance on the wheel. Check the following link out. It's from Dickssportinggoods.com / bikes/ accesories. This thing is fancy and is $150. I've seen simplier ones that cost less. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/produc... |
