Which is healthier: jogging or bike riding? |
I used to love the stationary bike in the gym but lately I've really gotten into jogging. Which is healthier, which helps burn more fat and create more muscle? Riding a bike is easier on the joints (hips, knees, ankles) and burns fat well. Weight training is the BEST way to build muscle which in turn burns fat. jogging if you need you whole body worked out (if there is arm movements) or bike riding for your calfs.. Depends on who you are and where you live? Some neighborhoods if you went for a walk that last thing you have to worry about is good health. For women because jogging is hard on knees.. A good stationary bike with rowing handles is the best. All around and doesn't jar the joints. Older people the bike. I belive jogging would be a better choice for you move more of your body rather than stationary biking. While biking you can also begin a momentum and lose exercise. Not positive but I would think jogging would be better because it's low impact and biking isn't. IF, you use a bike that works your arms as well, then the bike is better. the point of both of these is cardio work though, so you will burn calories, and maybe fat but are unlikely to build much muscle unless you are doing a LOT of it (on a regular basis for 20 min or more at a time). Also, if jogging, going up hills or setting a machine for inclines helps to burn more and work your body more. Many people will say that jogging is unhealthy for your legs and back, but I'm 43 and don't have any leg problems. I have been running long distance since I was twelve. Running burns more calories per mile than cycling. It develops muscles in the arms, legs, and stomache. If done safely, running can be better to tone and condition the body. bike riding u move your legs like jogging also u move your hands and move your butt up and down sometimes bike riding is not much better for u but over time it will make a big difference |
