Can I train for a triathlon in one month?



It is a 25k bike ride, a 5k run, and a 1k swim. I am in good shape, I teach spinning (stationary bike) four times a week, I was a lifegaurd and consider myself a good swimmer, and I can easily run 5k. What are your thoughts?

Your not going to build any more endurance in a month, but you have time to practice "bricks" - goging on a bike ride, then switching directly afterwards to the run. What you will find in training is that when you get off the bike, onto the run, your legs will feel strange and your heart rate will be up - after a mile or so you get into the running groove. I would practice that a few times before your race.

I would also be good to practice your transitions, laying all of your stuff out and creating a system. You'll find that it's easy to forget something like socks or sunglasses. You want to work out the kinks before the race.

You know that most people who run marathons train for years, right?
yes, it will be hard and you probably won't win, but you could train enough to finish strong.
no people who train for them train year around to stay in shape to do all three events.
i mean you could try. what have you got to lose? try it.
Here's the thing...you may be a great athlete and be in great shape...and you may be able to do each event individually. I'm not arguing that.

What I believe will take you down is the fact that you (probably) have not done all three events in a row with little to no break. It is good that you can do each event, but now you have to do it in a row and be able to save a little for the end for a last push.
