Should I work out today? |
over the last three days iv done 2 hours a day on a stepper(lateral thigh trainer type one) and 3o minutes on a stationary bike along with a bit of weights now my legs are killing me a bit and im finding it a lot harder to do the stepping or biking? do you think i should call today a rest day? or just work through it? it might seem like a silly question but I honestly can't work out if this is a problem with over-training or just a motivational problem? wish I had some equipment that allowed you to do cardio that doesnt put strain on your legs. if any one knows of any that doesnt require equipment feel free to tell me. No, I feel you deserve a break today. Take one on me. Why don't you go for a walk today. The exercise can help with muscle stiffness, but won't add to the pain because it's working different muscles. You're probably overdoing it, which is making it hard to be motivated. Check out circuit training. It will be a cardio/muscular workout all in 1 and you won't hurt yourself this bad. Do not work out today. Go to the store and buy a protein supplement (90-isolate is the best), and some glutamine supplement (an amino acid that will help those muscles repair, along with a lot of other good things). Never work a muscle that's too sore to work. You are tearing those muscles, and if they have no repair time, you will seriously hurt yourself. Rest. I agree. Give yourself a break. Or mix it up and do something really different, like work out your upper body / arms. Do pushups, use weights or stretchy bands, etc. Depends on the severity of your case of "Thunderthighs" you are definately overtraining. Do legs one day upper body the next then give muscles a rest then do cardio, then start all over again I would take a day to rest your muscles need to repair and rest. Be sure and drink lots of water to get rid of the lactic acid that is building up in your muscles and making you sore. You might even trying a supplement that helps with repair of muscles and gets rid of the lactic acid post work out. But take a day to rest, your body needs it. It's not a motivational problem your body is sending you signals it needs to rest. |
