Is the stairmaster better or is the stationary bike better to reaching that goal? I know I do not want to run, its high impact.
The elliptical machine is a good way to get a cardio workout. It mimics running but it's a lot easier on your knees and back. About 30 to 45 minutes is a good start, and as you gain endurance you can try steeper inclines which will bunr evern more calories :) You should lift weights along with your cardiovascular exercise. Increasing the size of your muscle cells will help you burn calories. Besides running you can walk, or use the bike. I am not a fan of the stairmaster for burning calories.
