How do you start? |
I am 30 y/o and want to drop 150lbs. I have started going to the gym with a friend of mine. I do 20 minutes on the treadmill at 2.8 miles an hour at a 7% incline and 20 minutes on the stationary bike. I am not sure how fast, I get 5-7 miles done in 20 minutes with a resistance level of 2. My question is, I started this week doing this routine Mon/Wed/Sat/Sun. How do I gradually increase this routine, so I do not get frustrated, quit, or get hurt? go girl, and keep it up, las time I dropped 150 poundz is when my huzband slipped out of my lovin arms talk to a trainer they can help you Well you started out right, it's best to start out easy and gradually work your way up. I'd keep up your current routine untill you stop feeling sore the next day after. Then you can start adding another day or more minutes, etc. Also adding some light weights is a great way to build muscle and increase your metabolism for now. Instead of increasing this new routine try every time you go some where you take the stairs, and park the car in the back of the lot and on lunch go walking, for breakfast eat only fruit and meat. Include your new fitness life into other ways and watch the wieght fly off. Did you consult your doctor before you started your exercie routine? To be honest with you, if you have 150lbs to lose, I think you are too heavy for exercising. You are hurting your back and knees more than burning the calories. If I were you, I will try to lose about 100lbs by portion control (eating less) and then start working out. or you can just throw up your food thats what these celebs are doing today You are trying to lose a lot of weight there. Good luck and God be with you. It sounds to me, a nobody, that you are doing great! Just starting is the hardest step to take. Keep your exercises short like you are doing already. Keep it very low impact as it seems you are doing and with the same types of machines try working out 20 minutes every day. The only real advice I can give you ... because you seem to know what you are doing ... is find a few workout buddies to keep you motivated at your level. Not everyone can find another person to go to the gym 6 or 7 days a week !!! |
