About 7 weeks ago I started exercising. I went from a pretty sedentary lifestyle to working out 4-6 days a week, 30-60 minutes a day. I usually walk/run on the treadmill and do "hills" on the stationary bike. My first period, after I started my new routine, lasted less than 2 days and the second one lasted about 3 days. Both weren't as heavy as they usually had been in the past. I have pretty predictable cycles but before all this it lasted 5-6 and was pretty heavy in the beginning, now it's down to half that. I've also been taking a "fat burning" pill everyday I exercise.鈥ㄢ€∕y question is could the new stress of all this exercise so soon and all the stuff in the pills be affecting my cycle? Do you think the working out has shortened my cycle and do you think it'll go back to normal once my body gets more used to exercising? Thanks for any help. Btw, if anyone is wondering, I'm not pregnant and these aren't "false periods".
exercise can definitely alter your cycle when you've just begun it consecutively for the first time in your life. chances are your cycle will return to normal at a later point but exercise does help reduce flow and reduce cramping as well as other PMS symptoms. as long as you don't lose too much weight you should experience more normal periods in a couple months. I think you shouldn't be taking these "fat burning" pills if you are concerned. Generally, the more you exercise, the less hard your periods are. The difference SHOULD lessen up though! It sounds like you are doing fine. The exersize is probably affecting the periods, but as long as you have them and they complete themselves I think you are OK. If you get to a good healthy weight they may stay this way - remember you have to keep on a sensible diet and exersise plan to keep the weight off (that has always been my problem)
