Faster weight loss results? |
i'm a 17-year-old female, 5'6, and 135 pounds. i just recently lost 50 pounds, and i've kind of hit a plateau in my weight loss. i still want to lose more weight, and i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, in terms of both diet and exercise, about what i can do to boost my weight loss and lose the last pounds. i especially want to lose and tone my butt/thigh region and my stomach. i currently run 45 minutes a day, ride a stationary bike 25 minutes a day, and do weight lifting/rowing machine/crunches for about 45 minutes a day. i eat about 900-1200 calories a day. any suggestions? thanks! For starters, you're not eating enough. Your body has probably gone into starvation mode, which means your metabolism has slowed down and your body is greedily hanging on to every last bit of fat that you have. With all the exercise you're doing, you need to eat AT LEAST 1,500 calories a day; maybe as much as 1,800. If you're not doing it already, eat six small meals or snacks a day instead of three squares or one big meal a day. Any time you eat too much at one sitting your body stores the extra as fat, but if you eat smaller portions more often during the day your metabolism will run higher. The rest is common sense -- keep exercising and eat the stuff you know is good for you while keeping the "bad for you" stuff to a minimum. You should also give yourself at least one meal a week as a "cheat meal" where you can eat or drink whatever you want as long as you don't stuff. Remember, you can't spot-reduce fat. Your body puts it on and takes it off in its own way, so your best weapons for fat loss are proper diet and exercise. For more tips, check out the Womens Health website (http://www.womenshealth.com/). Good luck! eat low calorie snacks/meals more often during the day, then exercise! 135 is pretty slender for someone that is 5'6". The only thing I would suggest is to drop your calorie intake, but only very slightly. (I'm sure you know if you don't eat your metabolism stalls and you will not lose weight.) Also, with exercise you are building muscle, instead of the scale start measuring yourself. Muscle weighs more than fat. have 1000 cals one day, 1200 the next, 1400 the next, then start over. ive done this and it works brilliantly. eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day, dont eat after 7pm. drink water like a fish. also drink a cup of prune juice a day, and mix unsweetened cranberry juice with water and drink it all through the day. both juices get rid of any extra stuff inside of you. do a different excercise each day for a week, i.e, one day biking, the next yoga, then running. etc.. measure along with weighing so you can tell if you're losing fat and gaining muscle. I do all these things and it kickstarted my weightloss again after a plateau. (im 17 too btw) good luck! lost 15 lbs :) to kick start your metabolism ADD calories, don't take away.. you don't have to add much, try just adding a piece of fruit like some Pineapple in natural juices, (or fresh) I'm not sure how often you eating.. but adding in an extra snack of some fresh fruit should do the trick.. for more tips, see the links below; http://www.ivillage.co.uk/dietandfitness... http://www.ivillage.co.uk/dietandfitness... |
