Beginners Swimming Routine? |
A few weeks ago I broke my ankle and have been laid up in a cast ever since. When I am able to get the cast off, I would like to try swimming as an alternative to the treadmill/elliptical/stationar... bike to avoid the constant jarring on my ankle. Does anyone have a recommendation for a beginners swimming routine for me. I CAN swim but have done it purely for recreation and never for exercise. a good beging routine is swim for about an hour or 2 ever other day. I have swam for 6 years and this is what my team has our beginners do. 1. Start with a warm up. Maybe a 500 (20 laps) That should get you nice and loose 2. Than you wanna do some sets. I would do 3 sets of 200's(8 laps) 3. Than after that do a 50(2 laps) of any stroke for a cool down 4. I would just do some more sets. Maybe like some drills. We do shark drill which is where you do freestyle but you drag your arm up your side (like a shark fin) also ketchup drill is pretty good. Remember to do those cool downs! Get Better Soon!! |
