Yesterday at the gym...?

I did about 30 minutes on the stationary bike, about 10 minutes on the sprint machine (I forgot what it's called), about 50-60 repetitions on both the chest press and some other machine (upper body weight training), and finally about 40 leg presses (10 of those with only one leg and switching to the other leg).

After I did this, as I was about to leave, my hearing started fading and I thought nothing of it, but then for about 5 seconds or so I felt like everything was getting darker and a little blurry. I thought I was going to pass out, so I decided to walk outside to the pool area, but as I started leaving the weight training area I started feeling better, but still walked outside just to get fresh air. Anyways, all of this lasted for about 2-3 minutes. Was it because I have a serious condition or something or just because I probably had a strenuous workout (even though it didn't feel like it)?

... I have never experienced this or ever fainted, so I was somewhat worried...

the er nurse is more or less spot on.

consider arrythmia of the heart, possibly from direct lactate and potassium increases from a taxing work out. Those ions leak directly from muscle cell damage (the goal of a workout, sorta).

I have felt this way after truely severe workouts, a sign of overtraining. This kills a few young/healthy people a year.

But would certainly consider dehydration as a likely primary diagnosis, and even a secondary one, as proper hydration can "stabilize" the heart in the face of high lactate/potasium levels.

And finally, the disclaimer. Rare intrinsic patterns in the heart can lead to very specific rhythm disturbances, and are very serious. They are often hereditary in nature, but not always. They are usually pretty easy to identify.

bottom line: if only one time, after an abnormally taxing workout, not likely to be an issue. if you have palpitations (pitterpatter in the heart), or it happened to brother/sister, or your dad had a big heart attack at age 30... consider seeing a doctor for a stress test. if you feel "doom" with this event, that is legitimately a bad sign, and forbodes a serious underlying condition. you sound like you are on speed or something that will surely make you faint after working out especially if you don't eat.
It sounds like you're dehydrated, but I would call the doctor anyways. Did you just stop your workout, or did you do a cooling stretch? If you slow your workout to a stop instead of abrupt, it will minimize the impact on your body, and drink lots of water!!
Make sure you're eating healthy before and after your workouts and drinking water all throughout. You also might be doing too much. Did you just start going to the gym? You have to start slow because doing too much at the beginning can be more damaging than helpful. The best advice I can give is eat and drink well, and if the problem persists, see a trainer in your gym or a doctor.
Lots of variables here - did you eat, do you have blood pressure issues? I would definatly make an appt. to see your primary doctor. There may be someting going on. People have "episodes" like this quite often, however, getting to the cause is sometimes a lengthy process. (I'm an ER nurse). If you feel like that again, try to get down to the ground so at least you don't fall and hit your head on something. I don't know how old you are, but honestly, if it happens again, especially if you are alone, call 911. It's always better to be safe than sorry - not to scare you but there are many things that could cause this, one of which is the electrical activity of your heart changing.
