Does anyone know where old stationary bikes and treadmills go to die?

No one seems to want them.

Sophie I'd give them away free! Maybe I will just curb it with a free sign.

I believe most towns and cities have "shelters" housing men (and women) who are journeying down a spiritual path to cleanse themselves of drugs and alcohol. A part of this journey includes exercise - I know that they would love such a donation! CJ

thrift stores, scrap metal

They end up in the garage or in a garage sale. If they're not sold, I've seen people use them to hang wet bath towels on or they hang clothing on them. Many people buy them with the best intentions but after a while, their enthusiasm goes down the tubes & they become bored with them.

I know people who would want them...it's just that after a lot of use the mark down isn't low enough for us to buy them. Maybe those that did buy them had that kind of money to pay the high price, but to those who are on low income who want them and could use them can't pay what your sales price is.

So then you have to pay extra money to take them to the dump.

Goodwills will take them.

Around here they end up on garage sales and usually have a free sign on the second day. Then they go to the dumpsters and eventually the landfills.

Around here anything you put on the roadside will disappear almost over night. The city workers will pick up items and throw them away but usually someone comes along and gets them first.
Those items have run thier course for desirability. But if you put it on freecycle.org or craigslist I am sure someone would want them. On Craigslist you might be able to sell them for a little money.

Off to the big Garbage Dump in the Sky. . .

Actually, I did curb mine for 6 days... When the garbage men came, a week later, they were the only ones that picked it up.

The same place old broken down German autos go...the old Volks home.

I work for a company that does repairs on all types of fitness equipment. If they're still under warranty, people usually have the repairs done, but if they're out of warranty, it can be really expensive to do the repairs. The tech's service call fee, hourly repair rate and the price of the repair parts for some of the units can exceed the original cost of the machine. After a certain point, toss them, buy a new one and make sure you purchase a warranty and when it's ready to expire, purchase an extended warranty. If you need to use it, it will be worth the expense. I don't really know where they go after they die, unless you pay to have it picked up and disposed of. The garbage service around here doesn't take anything that large.

that would be the best thing for you to do - you park it at the end of the drive with a free sign and it sill go away!!!!

Instead of giving it a way put a sign on it saying for sale and leave them in your yard , go in the house shut the door and I guarantee someone will come along and steal them

The attic or the garage. Sometimes you can find some fool who thinks they will actually use it.

Thrift stores

My upstairs closet. Everyone wants the newer ones. I suppose I'll just take them to the dump one day when I get up the energy to lift them out.

They are turned into clothes hangars. They have experience as a place to hang your clothes.

LOL! I had a stationary bike and wanted to get rid of it ... so I simply placed it near the curb with a sign saying ....

FREE - TAKE ME HOME WITH YOU! I DO NOT NEED PERMISSION TO GO! JUST TAKE ME!!!!

It was gone in an hour ;-)

That big garage sale in the sky? There is always someone who wants them....right?

We can put almost anything that is not yard waste, or hazardous materila by the curb for the trash pickup day, and it will be taken. I have also seen someone come around neighborhood with a flatbed truck and take junk you are throwing away. I think some of them take items and then have a yard sale.
