Do I burn the same number of calories with the three types of aerobic exercise I do?

I use a stationary bike, climb a treadmill, and run. I exercise on all three at 85% of my maximum heart rate. Do I burn the same amount of calories/hour for each activity?

No.

(what's climbing a treadmill?)

heart rate is not equivalent to the calories burned. (you can also do it physics way/mathematically to figure out that it's not equivalent)

but, stationary bike will give you the least, and...not sure what climbing a treadmill is, but usually running does the most.

Hello Robert C.

The answer is simply put "No" the rates of Calories Burned will be different for each of three exercises you do.

The use of the machines changes the Burn Rates because the Tension set on the Stair Climber, Stationary Bike, and Treadmills is all different, and can be adjusted to the comfort level of the user. Without the ability to accurately calibrate the Tension so the amount of Exerersion to complete the Exercise can not be accurately measured.

The above website will allow you to come close to accurate numbers for your calorie burn rates, and should be used for advisory purposes only.

I hope this helps....

Best of Day's!
