What size sport bike do I need?

I want a sport bike but, I only weight 97 pounds. I am strong though, I am a caretaker for a 80 yr. old man with Alzheimers disease. I don't know that much about bikes, my uncle did but he passed away and now I really want to carry him with me all the time by getting a bike. btw i am 4'11 and yes...female.

883 sportster harley davidson $6695.00

Unless you plan on picking it up off its side very often, strength has nothing to do with riding a bike. The more weight you take off your arms the less you'll 'wrestle' the bike and the more responsive the bike will be.
Do not go big, especially if you have any type of lust for speed. With newer technology, bikes get more powerful each year, and will get you in trouble in a hurry. Even the MotoGP- the big international superbike race, toned their machines down from 1000cc to 800cc due injuries and concerns.
The majority of experienced canyon and track riders will recommend the smaller 250 Ninja or a 500SV. These bikes user friendly, less dangerous, and if you end up becoming a serious rider- they are better bikes to learn proper cornering speeds. Inexperienced riders with big bikes never learn these techniques well as they hit the corner too fast (and often end up crashing) then come out and use sheer horsepower on the straightaway to catch the experienced riders.
Smaller also gets you better gas mileage and cheaper service and.
Once your out there, (I can't emphasize these enough) pretend your invisible to others out there and intersections are your greatest danger - moderate your speed to where you can look left then right before hitting it.
Finally, HAVE FUN!

best bet is take a course.they teach you on a 250, which is good to learn on, just not good to use in the real world, unless it is the new ninja 250 which gets excellent reviews from all the magazines. i have coworkers your height and weight and one of them rides a big boy bike, a suzuki 1000, and she had it lowered to fit her. so when you are ready don't let anyone tell you,you can't get the bike your wallet wants, you can do it, just stay within your ability, and start small at first then upgrade.be safe and don't forget your sefety gear.

learn on a ninja 250. for someone your size, that will still do 60mph in about 5 seconds...

you really don't need anything bigger than a 250 or a 500 to start...

a 600 cc bike has at least 85 hp (even the 80s models) and new ones have 110+

the power to weight ratio on ANY motorcycle is pretty astounding. too little makes you 'slow' by bike standards and still faster than 80-90% of cars. too much can get you killed.

TAKE the MSF course FIRST. THEN, look at bikes, because after riding, you'll have a better idea of what you like and what you don't. When you're ready to BUY a bike, get a USED bike for cheap - that way, when you drop it - no harm no foul. And you WILL drop it. I dropped mine the day I rode it home. Thank God it's 20-some years old. No big deal. At 4'11", most of the bikes out there will need to be lowered for you.

Most important - Get GOOD gear, take the course, and then buy a SMALL, USED bike. Can anyone REALLY justify spending $6000 on a pirstine machine, only to drop it because you forgot to pull in the clutch at a red light? Good luck!!!

I do agree with every one else about that motorcycle safety course but get the bike that you want...you are spenting your hard earn money and beside whatever you decide to buy remember the bike only goes as fast as turn the throttle...I have a 06 hayubusa LE and love to GO FAST!!!!!!! GOD Bless......

First take a MSF course and then start small and work your way up, your size isnt much of a factor because the ergo's are pretty tight on all bikes anyways, you may be a little short to get a foot on the ground but just start slow and you'll be fine

forget the 883 thing, they are top heavy and ill handling
but do take the safty course. honda shadow rides nice
if you go for the harley thing, the low rider is the bike,
may have to lower a little and smaller seat, but 10 times
the bike the 883 is..

grab a used Cbr600f3 or f2 to learn on, you can lower them cheap, and you won't mind dropping it once or twice...

then go get your dream bike after a season or 2...
