Sport Bike - Desnorkel or Conical Filter?

I am wanting to improve air flow on my sportbike to match up with new exhaust and jets. Is it better to desnorkel the factor air box or totally remove it and install a conical filter on each carb?

Depending on what Sport bike it is, you need to determine if there is any flow interruption to start with. Most modern sport bikes allow for free flow during full throttle; meaning there is zero negative pressure at maximum rpm with an unrestricted air inlet.

Some sport bikes utilize the "RAM AIR" effect, obtaining a positive pressure that is reliant on the speed of your bike, forcing air into the air box.

Depending on your bike and the type of aftermarket exhaust you installed, you may only see "PEAK" hp improvements at any cost. Most aftermarket exhaust manufacturers, do not spend the $$ on the R&D to make improvements of torque and hp throughout the mid-range to peak rpm. Peak hp is a faster way to get "it to market". You know; "Horsepower increases from 3-7 on the dyno by adding our system". They just don't tell you that it's really not the "everyday motorcyclist" type of useful power. They're not lying but just not telling you the intire truth.

Got to be careful about what type of air flow you might create. The possiblities of stratifying the flow may occur and actually hurt your performance.
