Do you think laying a sports bike in my pickup truck will damage it?

I have to pickup a sports bike about 100 miles away and need don't know the proper way to tied it down and don't want to damage it. How should I get it done? I know I'm an idiot, I just don't want to get out there and buy the thing and then damage it right out of the lot.

As long as you tie it up tight, it won't be able to damage it. If the bike stays still on your truck the whole ride. Get one of those bike stands and use rope.

When you say sports bike...do you mean motorcycle or pedal power? Either way, get some padding and a set of ratchet straps and you can secure it easily in your truck.

Damage the truck or the bike???
Get yourself some bike tie-downs and use them to stand the bike up.

Use ratchet tie down straps .
One on each side from the front forks or handlebars close to the forks to the box corners with the wheel against the front of the box.
Tighten the ratchets until they take up all slack the ratchet equally bringing the front end down a couple of inches thats all you need the rear end won't go any where.
Be sure you put the bike in the middle of the box.
I used to move mine around all the time like this. It works in a trailer too. Good luck and have fun.

I don't know, when you are done riding a bike do you lay it on the ground?
You put it on the center stand, tie the front forks down, tie the back of side to side! Done!
Use ratchet straps not pull ties.
