What is a good beginer bike for me?

I am looking for a cheap middleweight sports bike. I prefer an upright riding stance. something that has a very aggressive look, but it good for practical use in a city enviornment, somehting maybe like a 650 or something. anybody know of anything good?

CBR 600, SV650 S, GXR 600, YAMAHA R1 and R6 nice hot looking bikes out there...I got the gixxer....less weight the better, your both feet must touch the ground on full stop.

Suzuki GS500, all the way. Small, light handlebar equipped(no wrist-wrecking clipon bars), center-stand. Inexpensive and excellent on gas.
the GS500E is not faired. no longer sold new, still available used. The new one is the GS500F with full fairing and small windscreen, looks like a entry level sportbike. Which, conveniently, is what that bike is.

A Yamaha FZ6, or a Suzuki SV650. They are sport touring bikes that have front farings and can have side farings put on to get that look you want but they are way more comfortable on your body and wrist. You sit much more up right but they still have the handling of a sport bike that you want.

the perfect bike to start on is a GSXR 600, it is a blank canvas and will help you with proper riding habits. once done with that seek out 1 of the following ( Yamaha R6, Suzuki GSXR 750, Honda CBR 1000, 929rr)
