Best motorcycle for a big guy?

I am looking to buy a sport bike. I have been looking at a Yamaha R1. I weigh about 285 pounds though so wouldnt I need a bike with beter suspension? Any ideas or suggestions? It will be my first bike so take that into consideration to

ONLY experienced riders need to mess with the R1,GSXR1000, ZX10 or the CBR1000. You being a beginner rider I dont care if you weigh 600lbs these bikes will get you killed. They all have a powerband that if you dont know how to handle it will put you on your azz. Look more towards a Suzuki Katana 750 or a Kawasaki Ninja 650 or something like that, you just need enough power to get your big but moving and then have a little bit of fun but dont over do it until you KNOW you can handle it.

have you thought of the suzi bking? maybe a a big triumph. would have thought the riding position of the super sports wouldn't really suit. Think about a naked machine such as a bandit 1250, or a bit of italian flair with an aprilia tuono thousand. or a giant trailie such as a triumph tiger or a vstrom.
