Best shoes/boots to wear on sports motorcycle - crotch rocket?

I've been looking around for some sports bike shoes. The harley davidson boots look too clunky to fit, going through the motion from the foot peg and the shifter.

The motocross boots look good but are too expensive.

Currently I am using tennis shoes, actually, they are heelys minus the wheel with the laces tucked in.

Can anyone direct me to a place where they sell leather shoes/boots that make sense to use while operating sports bike at an affordable price?

I always wore square toed cowboy boots (if I was wearing jeans or something that went with them) or Alpine Stars boots. The alpinestars can be a bit pricey, but if you get some lower end ones, they're not too expensive and they won't be real clunky as you describe, and still give a lot of protection to your shin and foot in case of a wreck.
