What is the best NEW sport bike for a beginner?

I'm ready to turn in my used bike and get my first brand new bike. Price is a concern. Also, I do not need a ton of speed and power. Thanks.

not being funny buy a bike that's good to sit on and be happy to be on it's a personal thing for comfort no standard settings for us humans

have a look at the er-6f
looks like a sexy sportbike, not too much power, and low insurance group

and when i say sexy i mean SEXY

If you check out the Honda Shadow Aero you will buy it.I did. Good luck.

Preference is a big factor in choosing a bike, but you're better to get something common, so spare parts and authorized mechanics are easy to come by, also don't go too low down on power, when riding a bike you need something with enough poke that will pull you out of trouble if you get into it. And keep a service history so you get a good price when you sell it on.

I'm assuming you're not a complete beginner since you are trading in an old bike...? So you should be good for a 600cc bike.

So, you want the best price/performance ratio. Hmmm, kawasaki for sure. They used have horrible quality control, but that has gotten a LOT better. The 650r is a little over 6 grand new and has a decent amount of performance. Looks pretty nice too. Suzuki Katana 600s are pretty cheap too (about the same as the kawasaki), but aren't as good of a bike IMO (heavier, slower, ugly...). Also, the Triumph street triple 675 is a NICE bike and is about 8 grand new (msrp). That'd be my choice for a new 600.

Now to address, WHY do you want a NEW bike?! I bought my bike 5 months used in PRISTENE condition for 3/5 the price of it new. Basically I got a freshly broken-bike for $3000 less than a new one that i'd have to break in myself!

Look on craigslist.com or pick up an issue of cycletrader. You can find some great deals on gently used bikes.

kawazaki z-750 or gxsr 600

The Suzuki GSXR 600 is by far the most "bang for your buck" sport bike on the market due to its pricing and low maintenance cost. This is not an opinion, its a fact! I would suggest sitting on it first though, if you don't like the riding position then check out the Yamaha R6. These bikes are great "stock" performers and will give you a lot of confidence after a few hours on the bike!

Honda and Kawasaki have changed their motors so there is not enough information out there yet to recommend them. Although I would keep an eye on the Honda CBR600RR if your looking for the "NEW" fast 600cc.

ninja 250, always has been, always will be. 600cc bikes are not for beginners
