BIG BIKE TEST ( direct access)?

hi im doing my big bike test in a few weeks.
im doing my test with quick start as they trained me from the start (cbt). and got me where i am now.
im doing the direct access course can any one tell me what bike the test will be taken on.
i live in the uk and im 22
also can any one tell me what are the best sports bikes out there as thats the type of bike i wont .

The actual model of bike is difficult to tell, as it will be dependent on the one that you rent, or are supplied, by your instructors, but I am pretty sure that it has to be a bike above 50bhp in power, which is at least a 500cc commuter type bike, such as the Honda CB500, Honda CBF500 or possibly a Suzuki Bandit 600 or 650.

Either way, it is unlikely to be an exotic or extremely exciting ride, but I reckon that is how you would want it for your test!

Best sports bike? I guess that depends on what size engine you are going after. For a first bike, I would recommend not getting the most expensive, fastest, powerful bike you can get, as it is highly possible you may make some mistakes in the first few months of riding (I certainly did, busted a knee in the first week of riding!) and the thing about sports bikes is that the plastic that covers them is the bit that gets hit first and is also the most expensive bit to replace!

Kawasaki Ninjas, Suzuki GSX-Rs and Honday CBR-RRs are all renowned to be great sportsbikes, all parallel 4s and often said that the one you would choose out of them depends how comfortable you are riding them.

I personally rate Triumph, and would heartily recommend the Daytona 600/650/675. A triple engine is said to have the best of both worlds, the grunt of the v-twin and close to the high speed of a parallel four. Bike magazine decided that the Triumph triple engine is one of the best for UK roads. And how often are you going to get to the top speed of your bike on UK roads? Especially when you are brand new to it!

In the end, any bike is better than no bike, whatever you choose. Ride safe!

Cheers
Keiran

PW50 rev and go highly recommended

usually a 500
sports bike? would not bother buy a cheap hack to start with build your confidence up & it dont cost as much when you drop it,

Usually bike schools use something like a CB500, GS500, ER5. General all-rounder, not-too-sporty type bikes, easy to ride, not too challenging. I did mine on a GS. Good luck!

It will post probably be a 500cc - you will learn and take your test on the training school's bike so ask them what bikes they use.

Good Luck ;o)

You take the DAS on a bike of at least 43bhp and usually most schools will use either a CBF500, ER-5 or a GS500 as they are easy to use and handle and tend not to throw you off at the first mistake.

I did my Direct Access on a Suzuki GS500, pretty basic and agricultural but not too scary.

Just bought my first bike and went out on it for the first time last night - Honda CBR 600F - WOW is all i can say!!!!
