600cc bikes?

I want a 600 sport bike but there are a lot of options out there. If I get a used 600, what brand would be good and what year range? i.e. 03 suzuki verses a 99 honda..

I would start at 2003 and work up. Those are the best looking, and performing bikes of all 600 bikes.

If you want to be a little different, and faster go for the kawasaki 636. Thats what I have, it looks much better, its faster, and you don't see as many of them as the gsx.

I went to a local bike show out of 200 bikes there was about 190 gsxers and 7 cbrs and 3 636s. It may cost a tiny bit more, but its super realiable, and in my opinion better looking.

Best advice would be to go to a dealer and sit on one or 10 of them. If you have a license ask if you can test drive them. GSX-R might be great for me, but you might like the Yamaha R6 or a CBR or something else.

Good Luck.

he's right it's all about preference in both looks and the ride.

GSX-R was best for me as well.

Basically honda will be the most durable and best built, so initially I'd lean that way.

But a beat up honda will give you 10x the problems of a babied suzuki, check the sprockets, chain, brakes, forks, idle, everything!

bang for your buck = Craigslist.

Most bikes after 99 or so are fuel-injected so try to stick to those since they make more BHP.

As for a brand, I like the GSXR as well. The late model R6's run pretty high in RPM to make power, just so you know. I would definitely buy used as your first bike though; dropping it, crashing it, etc.. Look for bikes within 2003-2006--- anything newer and you might be spending more than you're willing.

Good luck and ride safe!
