Beginner sport motorcycle!!!?

I'm 16 and i'm thinking to buy a motorcycle. I want one that is reliable, sporty, gets good milege, handles good, and of course a fast one. Many people said that the 250 Ninja is a good beginner bike. The most important thing is the price. I want one that is ONE TO TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS. Probably one that is used for that price. thanks for the help!

A used Ninja 250 or 500 would be a great choice. I have a Ninja 250, and it's been a great bike. It's faster than a lot of larger cruisers, and handles extremely well.

If you already know and understand how to drive a manual transmission, it helps learning a motorcycle because it's one less thing you have to focus on when learning. The common saying is that if you can drive a stick and ride a bicycle, learning a motorcycle will be easy. If you can practice discipline and restraint when riding, you may be fine. It's not all fun and games on a sportbike. Even if you ride perfect you need to know how to react when other cars and bikes and trucks don't drive so perfect. That comes from building new instincts and reflexes, and driving habits. While I definitely recommend the class, the class doesn't usually teach all you need to know. Many, many riders go down every summer due to overconfidence gained by taking the class.

When I ride on the highway, I assume that every car I pass or that passes me, doesn't see me and is looking to come into my lane. I'm ready for any move that car makes half a second before he makes it.

You have to learn aerodynamics. If you get to close behind a rig, the wind can trap you there. When you pass along side of a rig the wind will pull you closer to the truck at one point and push you away at another. You have to learn all this and have counter balence and movements programmed into your body reflexes. You need lots of practice.

People recommend smaller CC bikes for beginners because most newbies are into it for the speed and flashiness of it and often underestimate the seriousness of riding safe. The temptation to tap into that power is usually too great to overcome. If you know you can and will respect the bike and get at least 3 thousand miles of practice before hitting the highway, and before group rides, then maybe you can start on a 600cc bike. Otherwise, help yourself out and start small.

For 2 grand you can get an 05 or 06 ninja 250 r. Maybe even an 05 ninja 500.

The best place to buy a motorcycle is craigslist below.

When going to the site you can see bikes for sale local to you. It doesn't really help you to look online, then find a bike, then its in another state. So you have to find them locally as shipping it would cost more than the bike.

You need to know how to use craigslist but its easy follow these 4 steps.
Step 1. Go to the site below and click the STATE you live in
Step 2. Now click the CITY or COUNTY nearest you
Step 3. Now click on Motorcycles
Step 4. Now type in a price range you are looking in.

Also I would say you are exactly right about the Ninja 250. Its fast, fun and easily under $2000

You may also try ebay but when going to ebay click ebay "motors" onthe top right.

I can totally get behind what you're saying. Point 1. I wouldn't limit myself to cc's. Just because you have something more powerful, doesn't mean you're going to go crazy and kill yourself. I've ridden sport bikes for a long time. Off, and on. I'm going to be real careful on the next purchase, AS TO the one that I really want. I ALREADY know what it is, and I won't be swayed. They're two of the same, yet, one is crazy better!! I'd eat ramen noodles, and go without to get it!! It's on E-bay. It's Old School. I am too. It's the Kawasaki 500 triple, 2 cycle. A legend, in 70's street bikes!! Also available, a 750 cc. triple, 2 cycle. They are the 'undisputed' king, akin 427, and 454 Corvette's. ALOT more attainable!! Dependable, and 10 times the speed of Stink!! Now, that's fast. Seeing one of those parked, brings on-lookers!! The ones that know. I will have one. I'm working on planning for it now. The Elephant Man would get more Tush on his, than a busy woman's toilet seat in Grand Central Station at Rush hour. That's hard to beat. It's worth the wait. Check it out. Don't bid against me, please. Dennis B.
