I need advice on buying a motorcycle...i want a sport bike. and something that will last me awhile...?

i was thinking of something like a suzuki GSX-R750 or a YZF-R6.... it'll be my first motorcycle but i'll have experience from dirtbikes...it wont be for cross country or anything mainly just intown and maybe hourly trips... anybody help me with what i should be loooking for and what would be good for me?

honda cbr600

Honda Cbr600, because Hondas last forever. They are the world largest seller of motorcycles, so they know what there doing.

Ducati Monster Dark is awsome.

Hi
My boyfriend is a motorcycle mechanic and is sitting right next to me but is watching the superbowl. The bikes you are considering are good choices. He suggests buying an used bike only because like cars they lose their value quickly. Research the party you are buying the bike from, make sure they did not do wheelies on it and never buy a repainted bike. Could be hiding damages. He says if you have the money to spend then it's obviously your choice. My Guy has been in the bike industry for over 20 years. I hope you find what you are looking for. good Luck.

both bikes are great,it will last you forever depending on how you ride and maintain it................i have a 96 virago 535 and it`s still as good as new,my 98 R1 is still kicking some new ones, and my dad`s 1990 gsxr-750 is as fast as a ferrari.............the best way to choose on what bike you`ll buy is reading some reviews on track/street tests and compare their pros and cons, and also include the exact use of it,is it for street racing?long distance travels?........................the two bikes are good but just as i said...............it all depends on you.

Yamaha 600 Great bike,fast,and dependable.

buy a Honda.
they last forever and parts are readily available and cheap.

I usually discourage somebody starting on 600 and higher but you dirtbike boys can usually handle it. The most important factor in choosing a bike is your comfortability. You need to go sit on each bike and see what feels best. Then you can consider performance and looks. If you are not comfy riding, your reflexes will be off and saftey is a concern there. It's hard enough leaning over that tank for any period of time, anymore uncomfortability and it just spoils the experience.

BMW GS 1150 or 1200. It's has a comfortable, upright riding position that you will be use to since it's a dual sport bike. It's VERY nimble and you'll feel like you're on your dirtbike. The sport bike will get very uncomfortable on your neck on long rides. If you're a real rider, you'll start going on long rides for the pure enjoyment and you'll want something comfortable. Oh, did I mention that BMW's are notorious for going over 100k miles?

SPORT BIKES TEND TO NOT LAST AS LONG AS OTHER LOWER COMPRESSION BIKES. AND IF HONDAS LAST FOREVER WHY DONT WE SEE THAT MANY OLD HONDAS ON THE STREET!! BUY AMERICAN
