Which sports bike should I get?

I got two choices. I am eaither getting an '08 yamaha R6 or ' an 08 Honda CBR 600. I know most people dont want me to get those bikes for my first bike but the reasons why I joined this biker world is because I want to ride those kind of bikes. I was wondering which bike is easier to ride if you're a begginers rider? Please dont tell me to get a different bike because I told you Im a begginers rider. Who cares if i drop my bike and who knows if i ever drop it. My friend started out with a CBR 600 and he never ride a motorcycle before and he never drops his bike so please help me choose between this bike and which one is better for begginers. THanks. If you can explained to me why the other one is harder and if you want your opinions on those two bikes.

why are you guys saying he will die if he gets an r6 or cbr? i am a beginner, my first bike is a 1999 r6, so far she has looked after me. i think that as long as you respect the power of the bike, and are alert to your surroundings, either of these bikes will be great to start with. you cant just get one a 6 and think youre rossi. that is when you probably will come off. you need to earn your stripes by riding it, and being mature.

They're essentially the same motorcycle. Honda's electrical system is porbably a little better, but you'll never notice the difference. Either one will give you years of fun, trouble free riding.

both bikes are comparable. I would sit on each and see which one you feel more comfortable on. Especially from a reach and posture point of view.

The R6 is a sweet ride , But the CBR is way more comfortable if your over 5'3". The Yamaha has a shorter wheel base which may make the Honda a better "beginner bike" , as far as opinion goes , the Kawasaki Ninja 500 would make a way better "beginner bike" and I'm sure the Insurance company would agree . Go sit on both and see what feels better to your taste .

either bike. Both are good quality bikes. I really don't care if you drop the bike. I care if you become a statistic. It forces all of our insurance rates to go higher. I'm sure your family wouldn't want to see you get hurt either. I'm sure your friend with the CBR is an OK rider. But we're not chatting about him. If you really want to learn how to ride, check out NESBA. It is a track day org. I was a very good street rider, with lots of miles under my wheels, with lots of different bikes. It took me 1.5 years with NESBA to get into the Advanced group. And I did it on an SV 650 track hoe. It's not the bike. it's the rider.

I aguree, almost the same thing,

I would sit on them and see what is more comfortable, personally I like the R6 style much better than the CBR, but taken car of the CBR will last much longer and be much more reliable than the R6. So it depends on how long you plan on keeping it as well.

new sport bike
never ridden before
you are going to die

The CBR is probably a better bike for a beginner. It has a longer wheel base making it a little easier to steer. The R6 is a race bike and a beginner rider is not a new racer.

Better choices would be Ninja 650 or SV 650. Both can do what the R6 and CBR can do on the street.

If you are not going to take the MSF Rider Course your Question should be more like "Do you want broken bones or to die?"

there are two types of riders in the world.
Those who have never been down.
And those who say "there are two types of riders in the world".
Your friend WILL fall. And hopefully he will not loose his life. YOU WILL fall, and hopefully you will not loose your life eather.
But the only bad thing about you n ur friend is - you endanger other riders and drivers in their cars.
Get protection squidy, and a donor sticker on ur C1 licence.

EDIT:
PS. Oh yeah, and even though i ride honda, i dont like the look of that new 08 models. For myself i would get an older version.

I know you "don't want to hear it," but a newbie with one of those, is like giving Osama Bin Laden the keys to the space shuttle.

Whichever you fit best on. I had an R6 for my first bike and I NEVER laid it down. I have a brain and eased into it at my own pace. And it was my first bike ever. I had rode about 125 miles on other bikes before I got it over the couple of years before. If you use your brain you will be ok. It can kill you so fast and at any time you let it so be careful. Wear your gear!

moron

Why do you think people say they aren't beginner's bikes? Nobody has anything to gain by saying that, if you won't accept that advice, why would you accept advice about which bike is better 鈥?especially two models that are brand new and therefore very few people will have ridden both long enough to reach a conclusion?
