Beginner bicycle question. Help!? |
I am looking into buying a bicycle. My guess is that I will probably ride it less than 30 miles each summer. I live in Chicago. I was checking out some bicycles online, and I am leaning toward this one. http://www.amazon.com/cadillac-adventure... What do you bicycle enthusiasts think? I didn't know Cadillac made bicycles. My initial plan was to spend less than $200 for a bike, but I am flexible. So please answer: What do you think of Cadillac Adventure Series AVP2.1? If you think that's a bad choice, which bicycle would YOU get if you had to spend between 150 and 250 dollars? i wouldn't buy bikes online becausei am a "try it B4 you buy it" person. but if you have ridden one before, and it is comfortable to you, BUY IT!!! if not, try looking for a bike at WAL-Mart (pre assembled if you aren't good at bulding things. the floor models are usually slightly lesser quality but cost alot less. I personally don't like the bike you chose. but who cares, im not here to tell you which bike you HAVE to buy. GOOD LUCK ON FINDING/BUYING YOUR BIKE!!!!!!!!!! OH YEAH!!!!!!! ALMOST 4GOT!!!!!!! and i would buy a NEXT Power Climber. If I had $150 to spend, I would save up another $500 and get a real bike. Cadillac DOES NOT make bikes. Those are rebadged Huffys. Do yourself a favor and go to a real bicycle shop. 30 miles each summer? You can do that by riding one block per day, and you can walk that far! 30 miles isn't squat. I think you should go to your local bike shope. Tell them what you want and what you have to spend. They will fit you and ensure you get the best bike for your build and use. It's very difficult to get even a simple cruiser of good quality for under $300. Giant sells cruisers that MSRP starting at $300. Giant is a good reputable brand. The most important thing is to get a bike that fits you!!! Good luck! Too much time working in the bike shop Personally, I would forget about buying a bike on Amazon or at any big box store. The bikes are of inferior quality and they are assembled by unskilled workers or by yourself. You will spend more to have the bike adjusted or rebuilt at a bike shop than you would save by buying one. The "cadillac" bikes are probably just Huffy or Columbia bikes with a different sticker on them I would go to a bike shop and look at their lower end mountain bikes. The Trek 820 for example sells for about $269. You will get a better bike and better service. go for it it looks like you made your mind up.go for it If you get a good bike, you will probably ride it a lot more. That thing is hideous and probably weighs 30-35 pounds. Try a real bike shop and get a Trek or Specialized comfort bike. They are close to the same price. Forget about suspension if you are just riding around town. A poor quality suspension will just bottom out on every bump and be worse than none at all. Even a Wal-mart Schwinn is probably better than the "Cadillac". |
