What would be a good bike for a newbie? |
I'm thinking of eventualy getting me a bike because of the increase in gas prices. i was wondering if a suzuki katana 600cc would be a good bike for someone thats only riden atvs, and my bicycle ? i prefer the sport bikes, they look so much better and are quieter than those Harley Davidsons. Look at any 250 (any thing bigger is more because of weight and size issues.) You don't really want to kill yourself in the first couple of rides now do you? Check out the internet, your local newspaper, vehicle trading post, and all the motorcycle showrooms where new and used motorcycles are sold. Try the motorcycle to see what fits best and you feel comfortable on, ask find out all the information you can about course, pros and cons of the bikes and what you will need. Make sure you get ALL the safety gear on that is gloves, lace-less boots, jacket (ensuring it has armour in it as this will help protect you in case of an accident, motorcycle jeans or pants (with armour for the same reason as a jacket) and a well fitted full faced helmet (unless of course you don't VALUE your head and living ability it allows) Hang out at the local motorcycle stops every Saturday and Sundays and talk to the riders that turn up about their rides and views o the same topic, because the advantage they have is they can SEE what you look like, your height and approximate weight, so be able to freely give better advice. Take all the motorcycle courses available and practice as much as possible. Stay safe, Stay upright, have fun. take the msf course and a 600 katana is ok for a newbie as long as you know that bike can hurt you real fast i am selling a 1987 honda rebel 450 Yes the katana 600 would be a really good biek to start with. I have ridden one before and they are very comfortable and if you rige quads teh 600cc will be a goo amount of power. Got to love tehm suzukis. none, untill you finish a MSF course. them stupid people who don't piss me off. i think even if you drive a car you should do the book stuff in those classes... everyone on the road could benifit from people searching for upcoming situations rather than just bareling on down the road untill something happens. CBR250R (Import) Kawasaki Ninja 250rr (Brilliant newbie bike, sports look, smallish so can filter great, and reaches speeds of up to 130 MP/H which is extremely impressive for a 250. itd a good powerful bike for someone that hasnt ridden before so i think itd be good for you. research bikes in your price range and see what you like. |
