Which would be the best sport-bike to have if you are a first time rider? Ninja 250 used. Definitely buy used for your first. You will be less upset if wrecked. Move up to a 500/600+ cc bike later after gaining important riding skills. I also strongly encourage a MSF safety course. Ride Safe Yamaha 250 or 500 Ninja 250. Great on gas, fun to ride, and great resale value b/c someone will def want it. It will also let you adjust to riding a bit better imho. Smaller and more nimble at slower speeds helps alot. You have the Ninja 250 which really is a small standard bike /w sport styilng. For bigger bikes, you can try the SV650 and the Ninja 650. Both have good low end torque, and good balance for beginners. You probably want to stay way from the bikes that are designed to turn agressively. Look for Rake angles around 25deg. More agressive angles make steering more twitchy. Sit on all of them and get the one thats the most fitting and has no more than 600cc and you should be ok. |
