What would be a good touring bike or sport touring bike for someone 5'6" tall? |
For me and the wife to take weekend trips. More concerned with comfort and reliability than engine displacement. Luggage options and gps/audio option availability is a plus. ABS would be nice too but i have to be able to plant my feet on the ground first and foremost. Thanks in advance..!! I am about the same size as you, and find the Triumph Sprint ST perfect. Most mid-sized sport tourers should be great, like the Ducati ST3, or the Honda VFR. Sprint or the Honda would be better in the reliability department. Last figures I saw, Harleys and BMWs had some of the highest frequency of repair levels. You have other options available to you, like lowerng suspension or having the seat "shaved" (some foam removed then recovered). Check-out the ZZR's for a great riding position with sporty looks Harley FLH , with hard bags, rides like your sitting on a leather chair. BMW K bikes: RT/RS/LT...tall at first, customize BMW R bikes: <same as K bikes above> Perhaps your wife might do good on the old BMW k75 R which was made with women in mind. Many people forget to check on BMW bikes for an odd reason. Their ABS is best in the world (9ft shorter stopping last I heard) and the reliability is second to none. check out the roadking and roadglide seat height is around 25 in for touring motorcycle, for a sport touring bike you will have to go with non american, take your wife on a hog ride both will agree very comfortable, harley davidsons are built from good metals, look at them on the web and or in person , look long enough and you will get the hog fever. good luck |
