Advice on sport bikes? |
I want a sports bike... at a good value for my money. Have to get a used bike, what would be the best bang...lol.... for the buck? A friend has a Ninja 500...don't think that is fast enough. My hubby has an 1100 yamaha vstar custom, and would like to keep up with him...or have him keep up with me...what cha all think? All bikers..........check out.. www.bacainternational.org Seems like you need a 750 or better. Try out the GSXR, CBR954, ZX-7, ZX-9. You should sit on the bikes to make sure they are a comfortable ride. Since you are going used I personally reccomend the 954 or GSXR 1000. They don't make you lean as low on the forks as the Kaws. If you and your Husband take trips the CBR is the best. I took mine to Indy from Chicago and back in the same night and had no problem with comfort. (and I'm 6'3") A Honda F4i is a great bike. You'll blow away any cruiser with it. They are reliable and pretty comfortable for a sport bike. why the hurry,need for speed? but if you really gotta go fast look for a gixxer or a busa. If this is your first bike, a ninja 500 will be more than enough bike for you. How fast do you need to go? That bike will get you to 100+ easy. Besides, when you're learning, the scary part is not going fast, it's when you're riding it around in a parking lot at less than 5mph. Everyone drops their first bike, usually multiple times. Best to do it on something with no fairing so less stuff to break. If you want something with a little more performance, get the SV650. It has decent torque but not too much power for a newbie if you're careful. It'll outperform the ninja 500 in pretty much all aspects and is lighter, more flickable. Once you get used to it, all you need are a couple suspension upgrades and you'll be able to beat most 600cc supersports through the twisties. Get a Yamaha R1. It's sporty, comfortable and goes really hard. You'll fell sorry for your hubby when you go nos with it! I ride one. A Ninja 500 isn't "fast" enough? Dang! That bike would have been a phenomenon just a few years ago ... 100+mph with no mods, great brakes, great suspension. Your hubby is riding a luxo-boat Vstar? Shoot, speed is NOT your problem. Power band is. While his machine will be most "comfortable" breezing along at 65-70, your bike will be struggling between 3rd (a tad high on the revs) and 4th (lugging a bit) and your Ninja whining to go faster and faster. Since this is your first bike, why not try a Honda Rebel? They are set up like Cruisers, can be found in good condition for a reasonable price, and are very stable ... much like the cruisers. Happy motoring, and take a rider safety course ... they can teach you things that will save your life. |
