Good beginning bike? |
Next spring or summer I want to get a motorcycle of my own. I've had my license for about a month now and I've been driving my dad's honda shadow 750. I should be a pretty good rider by the time next summer rolls around. What would be a good sport bike to get that isn't too powerful, looks good, and has pretty nice handling. I'm thinking maybe a honda cbr250 ( can't find one anywhere) or something similar. Btw I'm 6'0" 205lbs so the bike size shouldn't be much of a problem. I'd recommend a Suzuki SV650. They're easy to ride, have good power and handling. Plenty of upgrades and accessories are available. If you live in america, you're not going to find a cbr250, they don't import those here. If you want a small bore sport bike, the kawasaki ex250 ninja is the way to go, they are 3000 brand new......http://www.kawasaki.com/products/detail.... P.S. with you're size (considering you will have the experience) I would go for a 600 sport bike, be forewarned, they are very fast, about 150 top speed. Okay, the idea of a good beginner's bike really means NO SPORT BIKE. Even a small sport bike is a very powerful machine. A 600 cc sport bike is as much as twice as fast as the shadow 750. And as far as I know, there is no CBR250, never been built. I've seen lots of references to a Ninja 250, but I really don't have any faith in Kawasaki. My personal recommendation, stick with a 750 or smaller cruiser, like you've been riding. They're more comfortable and I think look nicer. Also, they don't have that insane power and won't get you killed quite as quickly. I am a new rider and I bought an 05 Honda Shadow 600. It is a nice looking bike and it has enough power for a newer rider. If you have been riding your dads 750 a smaller bike might not have enough power for you. there is a picture of my bike here on the groups home page. Feel free to join if you like. http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/free... Hyosung GV250 Aquila cruiser. Very good starter bike. I have one and love it. Not my first bike, I've been riding for 38 years all sizes. I use my GV250 mostly for commuting but more often than driving my car. Personal owner |
