Best time of year to buy a used bike? |
in your opinion what is the best time of year to buy a used bike, im specificly looking at sport bikes. im finding that the deals come around this time of year (end of summer). End of the Autumn / Just as new models are being launched. Don't buy next year's model, it will only have a different paint scheme and will not be noticably different from this year's. Don't buy in haste, play dealers off against each other. If buying privately, take cash but at least 15% less than the asking price so that you don't end up paying the full amount through over eagerness. Put 10% of the cash in a different pocket and then offer the rest, if not accepted you can pull out the reserve 10% and that will probably seal the deal. Generally the end of riding season in your area. I've noticed that lately the bikes are still up there in prices. I suspect it's because of the gas prices. You can still find some good deals though. But this is the best time of year. Right now is a great time of year to buy one. With winter coming, people sell their bikes after the summer since a lot of people can't drive them during the winter months. Around the 1st of dec, people need x-mas cash and u can make some good deals.from dealers get last years model at close out price. This time of year is good...but during the summer is better because they are really trying to get rid of what they have in stock so they can get more. We just bought a 2006 Honda CBR 1000RR the dealership was asking $11,299.00 and we got it for $9400.00 SMOKIN DEAL Now is a great time. I have an 02 GSXR1000 for sale and the price will go up $1k in Feb if I don't sell it. I am giving it away at $5900 and still not getting alot of calls. this is the cleanest 02 on the market! I have been in the car business a long time and I will tell you this, the end of every month dealers are more likely to make a better deal(to meet certain goals) at the end of the calender year is also a good time because they are trying to reach even bigger goals, but the thing that people dont think about is the best time to buy a vehicle is in the months of august thru october, that is when most manufacturers are putting out the next years models and dealers really want to get rid of current year models (normally when big rebates are put on current year models but pulled shortly after so if you dont buy a current year model vehicle in that time frame you lose all of the rebates!). we dont get new models at the beging of a calender year... it's when the new models come out. again this is almost always in the months of august thru october. |
