How can i learn to drive a sports bike? |
can someone teach me everything on a bike, whats on the foot pedal, where are the brakes, wheres the clutch? All that stuff, and how i can learn to ride one, i need to know the basics first, then you can get into the details and safety issues. ok the foot pedal on the right side of the bike is the lever to the rear brakes, on the opposite side is the shifter 1st gear is all the way down up is neutral then seond etc. the clutch is the left hand lever, always opposite hand as the gas and the right hand lever is the front brake, since you are a beginner you need to know that you only apply equal or lesser pressure to the front brake to the rear. for me, it was a lot easier to learn how to ride after if learned how to drive a stick in a car if you already know how to work a clutch then its pretty basic, if you can't i recommend you start there. good luck Source(s): personnal experience http://www.msf-usa.org/ Find your local motorcycle school, they will teach you the basics plus road safety. When you have some experience, find a motorcycle track that offers tuition on race riding. BUT you need to know the basics AND road safety before they will let you on well actually i'ts important to learn the safety stuff first. everyone will tell you to take a motorcycle safety course, and they are right. you should. did i read that 90% of accidents were people who taught themselves or were taught by friends/family? anyway. that being said, if you want to get a headstart on the safety course, or if you promise you won't be doing any riding on the roads above 10mph, here's what you need to know: left lever in front of hand: clutch (squeezed=neutral, out=in gear) right lever in front of hand: front brake (squeezed=floored brake) right foot pedal: back brake left foot thingy: shifter. to shift, stick your toe under the shifter and push up. that will shift up. to shift down, put your foot on top and push down. to go from 1st to 4th and then to 1st agian, do this: push up, up, up, down, down, down. to get to neutral, dont' push all the way when going down from second or up from first, but only push it halfway then stop. GAS: the right handlebar that you're holding on to. it's the throttle. to get gas, twist the top towards you. if you know how to shift in a car using a clutch, it's the same thing on a bike , but you're using your hand for the clutch. take the motorcycle safety course. they'll teach you, and you'll get to practice as well. it will be fun, and very worth it. forget it dude not everyone can ride The best place to start learning is a motorcycle school, like the ones run by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. They'll go over the controls and how to ride in a safe environment. Then you'll need to do a bit of practice on your own, preferably on a safe and forgiving bike. I'd say start on a 500 cc or smaller sport bike; you don't need 100 hp when you're learning and that will make learning a lot harder. |
