Can I learn to ride a sports bike starting out on a 600 Ninja? |
I am an averaged sized female. My husband thinks I can learn on his bike. It feels heavy to me. I agree with everyone else, especially the guy who says it's ok if you've already got other driving experience. I rode for 10 years before I got a 600cc sportbike. You should definitely start on whatever feels best to YOU. My husband was wise enough to refuse to teach me; he made me take the safety course instead. He's given me a lot of advice over the years, but ultimately I did what felt right to me. What you did not say is if you have experience riding other motorcycles. A 600 is a good starter bike if you have 5-10 yrs riding experience, but not as a first motorcycle. The 600 class sport bikes are very fast, high-strung machines -- a poor choise for a beginner. Try a Suzuki XSV650. That would be a better choice. quite a bit of torque for a first bike need some experience riding before you go zooming around on one of those check out Ernie's house of whoop *** site pictures 175 mph bike crash and see what a sport bike plus inexperience will get you. My first street bike was a LTD 440 Kawasaki after riding dirt bikes for years growing up. Now ride A ZX-10 somthing under 500 cc would be best --- a inja 250 is awsome as a 1st year bike -- sell it next summer with hardly any loss I agree, you should start with something under 500cc, for most 600 have almost twice as much power as the 500cc. and trust me these bikes are real powerful. The Ninja 250 is ok or maybe even 400 if you inted to keep it a while, but i still prefer Honda... I agree! Start with something smaller and lighter. You won't regret it! Then when you have some experience trade up to the 600! A Suzuki GS500 is an excellent choice for a woman who is learning to ride. The are inexpensive, very docile, lightweight and the seat height is perfect for shorter people. If you take reasonable care of it and decide that you don't want it, you will definitly get back the amount you paid for it if you sell it. |
