Which bike to buy?? |
Hi, Which sports bike is best for a new rider? I was thinkin Honda CBR 600CC. Please recomend. Also is there a place where I can find Sample california bike test papers? I'll basically repeat what some other have said. Sport bikes, better known as crotch rockets, are not for new riders. Go ahead and ignore my answer because its not what you want to hear, but you will end up in a coffin if you dont listen. 600cc's isnt the same for all bikes. Sport bikes are bred for speed, 0-80 in 3 seconds or less, very difficult to do slow maneuvers, and extremely uncomfortable. If you really must have a rocket, get a ninja 250R, maybe a 500R, but even that is pushing it. When you ride a bike your reactions become faster. If you start with something too big, you dont give yourself time to build your reaction times. Just a side note on the CBR 600. I've ridden one, and its too much, too touchy. You hit that throttle a tad to much and you'll be in the backseat of the car infront of you in the blink of an eye. I've also ridin a Yami R1, and that makes the CBR look small. My advice would be to look at a Suzuki SV, a little tamer but they are actually used for some races, so they have speed, but the throttle is tamed. If a rocket is a must....i guess a Ninja 500R, i've been on one once, great ride, upright position(you can tuck), throttle is responsive but not aggressive. O,yeh, good point by VTR. Look used. Trust me. I know you want new and so did i. But when that new bike inevitably gets dropped because your learning, your going to hate yourself. Ride a used bike for atleast 6 months, then sell it once you have the confidence to ride a new one. Believe me, you will drop it, probably multiple times with the first 2-3 months of riding. Source(s): Me If you don't know how to ride, don't start with a rocket. The current 600cc machines are performance equivalents of GP machines of 30 years ago, that could kill the best riders on the planet, which, no offense, you're not. Start with something docile. After you've learned to ride and to read traffic, then get whatever you want. Surprise -- it'll probably be something different, anyway. Check out the Suzuki SV650, and Kawasaki 500EX both are good sport bikes for beginers Motorcycle Technician Even a CBR 600R is too much for a beginner rider but that's only my opinion. The new Honda CBR 600 is way good lookin bike though (I prefer the new Gixxer 600 though ; ) I heard alot of new riders go for the Suzuki SV650, Suzuki Katana, Honda 599, and the Kawasaki Ninja 500R. My friend bought a Yamaha R6 and the next 2 weeks sold it because he didn't have respect for the bike and knew that something bad was going to happen sooner or latter. Hope this helps! For a new rider, get something smaller than a 600. You can buy used and sell used for almost the same price, so you won't lose money learning on a smaller bike. Get the 600 when you are much better with traffic, turning, braking, shifting...all the important stuff. A 600 will not give you chances if you hamfist the throttle in a turn or lose concentration for a second looking at something else and realize you're suddenly going 70 mph into the back of a car doing 35. Things happen too fast on a CBR 600 to have to think about what you're doing. A Ninja 250 will be much more forgiving. |
