Sport motorcycles ? |
I am looking for a sports bike and I'm pretty new to motorcycles, so I was just looking for opinions for which models and makes would be good. I'm about 5"8', 150lbs, and am looking for something fairly fast as far as bikes go. Thanks for your opinions-- u cant handle a sport bike rookie. u will wind up dead. they're for experienced riders only. 1 mistake is all it needs to put u in a box. No wonder my Insurance rates keep going up ! sport bikes do everything quick so I would suggest that as a newb you look at an old standard or mid range cruiser size isn't really an issue I'm a smaller guy myself and it's all in the wrist so whatever ya get take a riders safety course practice good habits and have fun I used to bang a stripper that sold motorsickles in the daytime Everyone is right. A liter bike is a death sentance to the newbie rider as well as a skilled rider not used to the liter bike power. like a harley guy converting to sport. Don't be fooled by the CC sizes either sport bikes are fast period. Even a 600 supersport is freakish fast. Too fast for the newbie. For example a ninja 250 sport bike will keep up and beat most if not all stock harleys which are well gigger than 1000ccs. So CCs are not everything. It is in your best interest to get a sportbike trainer then get a sportbike. Not all of these are great beginner bikes but they are sportbikes that have some forgivness and they also look real cool. these are not full sports but with some common sence can be managed. The F4I and the ZZR are fast, very fast. But still more managible than the full RR bikes. The SV650 is a great street and track bike. They handel real well and that is why so many take them to the track. The SV650 is a great choice. Honda F4I Kawasaki ZZR Yamaha YZ6 Suzuki SV650 Suzuki SV1000 Suzuki GS500 (Great Starter) Honda 599 Get one of these used, ride for a year or two then get the sportbike you want. Your taste in bikes might change alltogether in the next year as you learn more. Of course you're looking for a fast bike. How nice for you! Let's just hope you're at least 20 and have a few years of avoiding traffic under your belt before you twist a throttle, and you may be surprised (and disgusted) at how much insurance will be if you're under 25! The StupidBikes show on Speed looks SOOOO COOL, doesn't it? Do you really want a piece of butt jewelry, or do you plan on being an actual RIDER? You want your first bike, not your last. Even a "starter" bike will smoke that douchebag at the light who thinks his Hemi is all that. Look for a used Suzuki SV650 or Ducati Monster 620, take an MSF course if you haven't already, and budget a good $500 for full gear if you don't have it yet. Corners are what separate a real rider from a squid, not the ability to do 100' stoppies. Learn how to take corners smoothly and you'll find out where the true joy in riding lies. |
