Whats a nice size bike for a 6 foot 200lb body? |
I want a sports bike my budget is 10k dollars. Sports bike... By this I am assuming that you don't mean "Sports Touring", because there is a fine distinction between touring bikes and the other family the "Super Sport". Is this going to be your first bike? My best advise is go to the dealers and sit on each one of the bikes that you like. Whatever feels the most comfortable is a good way to go. Check out where the controls are, most things are adjustable, but sometimes simple details can make or break the deal. Plus keep in mind that different bike manufacturers do things different. They all have different controls, different gauge clusters, different rider positions and different body pieces; that sort of thing. Based on the budget of 10K, I would say that pretty much puts you in the 600cc product line, for new bikes anyhow. Anyone of the machines on the market now are plenty powerful enough to make a 6' 200 lb person accelerate pretty rapidly. I am 5'11 170 lbs and I had a 2001 Yamaha YZF600R (sport touring) that would go 0-100 in a heartbeat and then back down to 0 before the cops even knew what just went by. The fastest I ever had it was 134mph with a girl named Mindy on the back. So I wouldn't be to concerned about the power produced by any street bike. The type of riding you are going to be doing should be a factor in your decision. Are you commuting around the city or taking frequent long trips? Is it 45 minutes one-way to work? Some bikes aren't all that comfortable after an hour or two of riding. If you are going to dealers, ask them questions also. There's an added charge associated with most motorcycles, it's called a freight and assembly charge (around $1500-2000, it varies a lot). Some dealers will tack it on the total and others won't. That maybe a determining factor in your purchase decision as well. In the end, for my money, I would say Yamaha or Suzuki. It's really hard to beat the Yamaha R6, it's a pretty bad sport bike. Feel free to ask if you have any further questions. I hope I was helpful to you. I'm a big guy and my 650 is too small. Go for something 1000cc or bigger. GOLDWING BABY |
