For those who know a lot about Sport Bikes: power commander question.? |
My boyfriend mentioned a couple months back that he wanted a Power Commander for his Suzuki GSX-R600. I want to suprise him and buy it without his help, so he won't think that I bought it (he thinks I am a total ditz about these things). I found one online for a Gixxer, a Dynojet. Is that a good brand of Power Commander. Do you need to buy another other parts (wires, hookups, etc.) to install the Power Commander? I really don't know anything about bikes, so GOOD advice would be appreciated!! Dynojet is the ONLY power commander made. Power Commander is Dynojets trade name for their version of an EFI fuel controller, which is what you are looking for. When you buy the power commander it comes with everything you need to map the bike. The maps are downloadable from the internet for free and how and where to get this info comes with the power commander. nothing else is needed. There are different power commanders. But all you need to know is that the newest power commander is the Power commander III USB. Don't buy anything else. Oh ya I sell power commander for less than anyone $254.96 SHIPPED Go to the link below and there is a pic at the bottom of the page. Click on it. www.cyclemartusa.com Have more questions? Go to my other web site (www.powercommander1.com) or call us at 1-866-204-0942. FYI - power commanders are not designed to give more horse power they are designed to change the stock mapping on your bike to match after market performance changes. When you engine is optimized with the use of a power commander you will see some small HP changes. The is just a bi-product of running well. With a full exhaust system, power commander and custom map on a GSXR1000 I have gained 11HP. That is a giant gain even if it sounds small. Source(s): I am a certified Power Commander (Dynojet) service center and dealer. I HOPE THIS HELPS.dynojet powercommanders are the best. but i found that, the bikes 03, or newer the powercommander doesnt make a difference.unless you change at least the air filter to a HI-FLOW AIR FILTER to a k&n.and put a after market exaust system on as well.i have a 06,kawi zx10r,that im fighting right now.with all my modified parts that were supposed to up the performance have done nothing but cost me money.but not to burst you boyfriends bubble but unless you plane to race like i do his bike and most of our bikes RUN ALMOST FLAWLESSLEY BONE STOCK THE WAY IT WAS DESIGNED.fill free to email me with any more ??? DynoJet is the manufacturer of Power Commanders. If it DOESNT say Dynojet, dont buy it.... It should come with the wiring harness as well as a USB cord so you can hook it to your PC to download new maps. You can also find them pre-loaded with a map for a GSXR600 - but you need to know what kind of pipe he has.... Youre better off just getting him one that doesnt have a preloaded map on it... Any other ?s, give me a email... you don't need a power commander on a stock bike spend you money on a can or a full system even though a full system will suck on the street you boy will think he's the stink Dyno-jet makes the Power Commander but DO NOT!!! buy one online from a place such as E-bay, If you do the warranty will be no good and there is no telling how it will be mapped, or if you will get all the parts. My advice would be to catch him gone and take the bike to your local motorcycle dealer, they can install it in very little time.Unless your boyfriend is very experienced with motorcycle electronics please don't let him do it himself, I worked at a Kawasaki dealership for 5yrs and installed several of these units. It's not really hard but you have to know what you are doing or you can cause very expensive damage to the electrical system and engine. |
