It's the RIDER that makes a bike fast, and Valentino Rossi could ride an Aprilia 250 around Suzuka faster than you could on a Hayabusa! If you insist, look at Marine Turbine Technologies' superbike. There's no displacement numbers, because it uses a decommissioned helicopter turbine engine. It's a jet engine, in other words, and relies on air flowing through it to reach maximum efficiency. Turbines are interesting since they don't produce a set horsepower reading, instead the horsepower increases with speed. When starting off on the MTT bike you might have 10hp, then 20, then 50, 80, 130 and so on as you gain speed and force more air through the turbine. From MTT's website: "Powered by a Rolls Royce Allison gas turbine engine, the SUPERBIKE has demonstrated over 300 hp and 425 ft/lbs of torque on the Dyno Jet 200, and has been clocked at a record-breaking 227 mph!" It is NOT really for sale although some lucky few have gotton "non-working" models to take home (yeah they took out a spark plug so they could sell it). It has a viper motor making about 500 crank horse. IT should repeat should go WELL into the mid 200's. However the turbine bike by Y2K IS available and WILL go over 220 so therefore its probably the fastest motorcycle top end for public purchase. A hayabusa with a big turbo and major engine work can reach speeds into the mid-low 200's as well and it won't cost near as much, but its not stock so.... |
