How many miles is too many on a sports bike?

Depends.

100K on a 2005 is WAY TOO high. 100K on a 1988 is low....see what Im getting at??

Really, what matters is maintenance. My buddy is a mechanic. He has a 2001 Honda Superhawk with 130K miles, and only had to replace one piston (its a vtwin) recently. Likewise, I know a guy with a 2004 R6 that blew up because he never changed the oil...with less than 10K on it.

I would say if you continue to take proper care of your bike like changing the oil and other maintinence. It should last you forever as long as you dont wreck it. You might have to replace small parts occasionally but not often with proper care. Hope you continue to enjoy riding.
9000 miles is pretty good , if it has been taken care of. Inspect the chain, the oil, brakes, clutch, etc.
