Chain covers + Specialized Hardrock Sport? |
I have a Specialized Hardrock sport I ride trails but also use the bike to get around town and to class. One thing that I've noticed is that with long pants the chain can rub grease off on them. Would a chain cover be a good solution to this problem or would it get in the way with trail riding? up to now I've just been rolling up my pants leg thanks guys Rolling up your pants leg is a good option, but you might try securing your pants with an elastic or Velcro strap. It's a little sleeker. Chain covers can be hard to install on a mountain bike because the chain moves so far laterally on the bike. It can be done, but I'd make sure the shop that does it really knows what they're doing. Otherwise your pants might get stuck, not just dirty. Good thing shorts season is upon us! Have fun. Specialized Hardrock sport... that was my first "real" mountain bike. Yeah...I ride my bike to school and for fun. And the chain doesn't rub grease on me but I get my jeans caught in it periodically. My solution is to leave the gear on third. This doesn't really answer your question but if this happens, you'll know what to do. Chain covers will just make the bike look like a bad brand. Oh well...good luck with your decision! Me!!! |
